The University of Thessaly (UTH) offers to first-year students electronic services with the aim of facilitating their interaction with the University.
The University of Thessaly does not tolerate any form of direct or indirect discrimination, victimization, intimidation, or harassment, and ensures the principle of equal treatment. The University of Thessaly’s policy for addressing the above issues aims to develop an academic and working environment in which harassment and intimidation have no place and where all members of the academic community can be confident that their problem will be dealt with discreetly and responsibly by the University.
The Equal Access Unit for Persons with Disabilities and Persons with Special Educational Needs is an evolution of ACCESS-Support structure for students with disabilities and/or special educational needs in accordance with the provisions of Law 4957/2022 (Government Gazette 141/τ.Α ́/21-07-2022) “New Horizons in Universities: Enhancing the quality, functionality, and connection of HEIs with society and other provisions.” The Equal Access Unit offers its services to all persons with disabilities and/or special educational needs at the University of Thessaly and in the five cities where the University is based.
The Center for Counseling & Psychological Support Center for Students of the University of Thessaly provides the opportunity to students of all the departments of the University of Thessaly, if they wish, to receive psychological support and help for their personal difficulties and concerns, but also to be trained in acquiring skills management and problem solving skills that they may face.
The “Student Advocate” was established at the University of Thessaly by Government Gazette 6019/B/20-12-2021 and has the following responsibilities:
- Mediation between students and professors or administrative services of the Institution
- Compliance with the law within the framework of academic freedom
- Addressing maladministration
- Ensuring the smooth operation of the Foundation
The Student Advocate has no jurisdiction in matters of examinations and student grades.
The University of Thessaly Theater Group ‘ Third Floor’ gives students the opportunity to learn about the art of theater, work in teams, and discover their expressive abilities through theatrical games and improvisation. The group engages with the art of theater through exercises, games, and techniques, while participants are encouraged to use their bodies, voices, and speech as means of expression and tools in this creative experience.
The Music Ensembles of the University of Thessaly (vocal expression group and instrumental ensembles), led by Maria Thoidou, member of the Special Teaching Staff, consist of students from the University’s departments. Their goal is to promote collective musical creation and musical cultivation among students, mainly through vocal expression. Through their artistic activities, including concerts, seminars, music publications, festivals, cultural exchanges, etc., they contribute to the active presence of the University of Thessaly in relation to culture.
The volunteer group at the University of Thessaly consists of students enrolled in various departments of the university. The number of volunteers ranges from 35 to 70 people. The need to create such a team arose in 2015 in the context of organizing a conference of the Department of Early Childhood Education. Since then, it has participated in three other conferences and various activities of the University of Thessaly, such as the organization of the 30th anniversary celebration of the University of Thessaly, events organized by the TALOS Robotics Team of the University of Thessaly, etc.
STUDENT ASSOCIATION
All postgraduate students are entitled to register as members of the Student Association of the Faculty of Science, which operates in accordance with the law. Representatives of postgraduate students participate in the University’s bodies in accordance with the provisions in force.
