Special Topics in Mobile Communication Networks


Description.

The course is an introduction to sizing, design and optimization of Mobile Communication Networks. A comparative inventory of the evolution of services and architecture of Mobile Communication Networks is attempted. 2nd, 3rd and 4th generation mobile communication networks are examined. The basic concepts and functions of networks are introduced and radio transmission issues in the wireless environment are analyzed. Issues of dimensioning, design and optimization of radio networks are addressed. Emphasis is placed on issues of radio coverage, capacity and quality of service.
