Theater Team
The Theater Team of the University of Thessaly ‘ Tritos Orofos’ gives students the opportunity to learn about the art of theater, work in teams, and discover their expressive abilities through theatrical games and improvisation. The group engages with the art of theater through exercises, games, and techniques, while participants are encouraged to use their bodies, voices, and speech as means of expression and tools in this creative experience.
Each year, the Team selects, adapts, or composes the works it will present to the university community and beyond (it is customary to present a children’s performance at the university’s Christmas celebration and one for the wider public before the summer). The Team works collectively and exploratively, under the guidance of the director/theater educator, and is encouraged to suggest and explore material for the final performance through improvisation. The members of the group (more than 60 in recent years) are invited to participate in all phases of the creation of a theatrical performance, from the adaptation/writing of the play to the set design, music, costumes, lighting, while collaborations are encouraged, e.g., with the Music Ensembles for the music, with the Architecture Department for the sets, with the Costume Department of the Volos Municipal Vocational Training Institute for the costumes, and so on.
