Description.

Modern VLSI chips are highly complex designs that consist of multiple distinct segments: billions of transistors, millions of logic gates for computations and control of proper operation, memories of different technologies, and built-in blocks designed to implement specific functions. It is obvious that manual design is no longer applicable to designs of such great complexity. The answer to the design problem is the use of Computer-Aided Design (CAD) Tools. Using a sequence of tools, starting with the abstract description of a circuit, we can come up with the final design.
The course focuses on the presentation of basic ASIC design tools. . The aim of the course is for students to acquire a comprehensive knowledge of the design and implementation process of a design through the use of a range of CAD Tools and develop appropriate tools to enhance the aforementioned procedure.
