ACADEMIC ADVISOR REGULATIONS

The cooperation between the postgraduate student and the Academic Advisor takes place at the University of Thessaly on a personal basis and focuses on the following issues:

  • Identification of academic and professional goals.
  • Course selection.
  • Monitoring academic progress.
  • Allocation and use of academic resources.
  • Clarification of academic and university regulations.

Academic Advisors, if requested, assist students:

  • to complete their studies in the most rational and efficient way,
  • in solving problems that may arise during their studies,
  • determine the optimal order in which they will declare, attend their courses, minimising failure in exams,
  • choose courses according to their interests, potential and skills.

In addition to the above topics, postgraduate students can discuss with their Academic Advisor any issue of their academic life that arises, for example, issues concerning the Regulations and the Programme of Studies, problems with courses and/or laboratories or even personal difficulties that may affect their studies. In any case, the Academic Advisor tries, as far as possible, to give or suggest solutions to any problems. The content of the discussions is confidential and the student’s personal data is protected by the teacher.
Students consult with their Academic Advisor during the semester course registration period in order to select the most appropriate courses for them, and communicate after the release of the results of the respective examination period, where they discuss both the results and the student’s progress during the previous semester. Extraordinary meetings may be held when deemed necessary by either the Academic Advisor or the student.
