Optical Networks
Description.
Historical evolution of optical communications. Optical fibre as a transmission medium. Optical fiber categories. Linear and non-linear phenomena in the optical fibers. Optical provisions. Optical transmitters, optical filters, optical amplifiers. Design of optical links. Optical networks. Optical network design and topologies. Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM). Multiple access and routing in optical networks. Metropolitan optical networks. Access Optical networks. Wireless optical networks.
